Domestic Abuse Reports Surge Globally

Reports of domestic violence have gone up around the world. China and Spain saw a surge in calls reporting domestic violence. In France, the police reported a 30% increase in domestic abuse cases.

The numbers are similar here in the U.S. — Houston police saw a 20% increase in domestic abuse calls. In New York City, which has been under lockdown since late March, the city's online domestic violence resource web site has seen nearly double the amount of traffic.

Here & Now's Tonya Mosley talks with Nathaniel Fields, president and CEO of the Urban Resource Institute, a New York-based organization for victims of domestic abuse.
